Each year the whole of people infected with Hiv/Aids goes up. It rises at an alarming and steady rate. In 2003, it killed more than 3 million people, and 5 million more contracted the Hiv virus. It's believed that today, the whole of people living with Aids worldwide is 40 million.
In 2007 there was an estimated 2.7 million people who were infected. On a global scale there were 33 million living with Hiv infection. Most of these were not in the United States, where more than 1 million are living with Hiv and 56,000 were infected each year.

It is believed that this arrival year will serve as a year of transition in the fight on Aids. Figures show that since 2001, when there were 3 million new infections, to 2007, the whole went down to 2.7 million.
There also seems to be a global stabilization, although the money from a fallen economy can hamper medicine programs and other funding.
The whole of children infected went down while the period 2001 to 2007 from 450,000 to 370,000, and is believed to be because of the increasing whole of programs for stopping mother-to-child transmission.
